Today, right after my Korean lessons, I headed over to Marina Bay Sands, Waterfront Promenade for Singapore’s first-ever outdoor cafe hopping event!!!
I was anticipating this event, ever since it started it’s promotion around April, and I got myself the VIP pass!!!
Luckily, I have Hui Shan, who came along to this super fun event with me.
As I have arranged to meet her at MBS, I actually bumped to her on bus 106 at Lucky Plaza!! Such a coincidence!!!
After that, we walked from MBS to Waterfront Promenade!!
The event itself is not very big, and most cafes were selling those food that requires little cooking. Hui Shan was looking forward to having Eggs Benedict, but sadly, there were none. So, we settled for something else instead!
Cafe Fest is located right in front!!
And by the time we reached there (around 1 plus), the area was pretty crowded!
And there weren’t much tables to accommodate for everyone. But thankfully, there are seats near the bay for people to relax, listen to the live band, and of course, look at the river!
My VIP pass chop! It smudges real fast!!
A welcome drink from nu smoothie for those who bought the VIP Pass~
The drink was really yummy!!
Pretty Hui Shan with her regular pass~ I didn’t take a photo of myself with my VIP pass, but other than some vouchers and the free drink, there isn’t much difference between the regular pass and VIP pass. (P.S. Please quote me if I’m wrong)
Booth selling Cafe Fest goods where T-shirts and small tote bags are sold~
Rest area for the VIP ticket holders~ I wonder how do they actually check. The bean cushions are so damn nice~~~
Rest area for the public~ Hui Shan commented that this looks like a garden area, and then after looking for a while, I realized what she meant! Hahaha!!!
A mobile book store that sells books mostly on business. (Please quote me if I’m wrong!)
Not only that, there were games such as Ping-Pong and Subaru mini-car race games to be played while enjoying the cafe atmosphere!!
After walking through one round around the venue, we sort of decided on what to get!
Hui Shan went to get the Pulled Pork Burger from Toby’s Estate, while I headed over to Maison Ikkoku to get the Spicy chicken sliders and a cup of Ice Mocha!!
The queue for Maison Ikkoku was pretty long, and their Spicy Chicken Slider was a great hit, that by around 2, it was SOLD OUT!!! I was there around 1 plus, so I managed to get a box of Spicy Chicken Slider!!
Our lunch for the day!!! (L tor R: Ice Mocha from Toby’s Estate and Maison Ikkoku~)
We also had pulled pork burgers from Toby’s Estate, while the Spicy Chicken Slider from Maison Ikkoku~
While waiting for the food, I managed to see Gwen, my colleague, who just reached the event venue. Luck was not her side, and she missed her chance to buy the Pulled Pork Burgers, coz it was really famous~
Hui Shan and me with our ‘buys’ from Cafe Fest!!
That’s me, eating by the river side~ The Pulled Pork Burger was nice!!! I totally give 2 good thumbs up!!!
And after munching the burger (was super hungry, coz I woke up late, and didn’t have time to take my breakfast before my Korean class started), I went to try the Spicy Chicken Slider. Both are equally delicious~~ But I prefer the Pulled Pork burger because the bun itself is very smooth, and it sort of makes you feel satisfied when eating the skin.
After eating, we decided to head back to MBS to get some air-con, and check out the outside of STGCC as it was Hui Shan’s first time to see such things!!
After that, we went back to Cafe Fest, and got some Italian Soda from Cake Love before heading over to West Gate!
Here’s my stash of pictures that I’ve taken during the event!
This guy, who prepares the drinks from Cake Love is super awesome at multi-tasking!!
Even when it comes to the pouring of drinks, he can do both at the same time!
Hui Shan ordered the Minty Green Apple tea, while I ordered a Lemon Pass Fruit tea, which has a weird weird taste to it. Probably the person who made the drinks, added in too much Apple syrup, so that’s why I find it weird.
Chilli Cheese Hotdogs from
Me and Hui Shan with our Italian Soda from Cake Love!! Much thanks to Hui Shan for accompanying me to this event!!
Maybe I should try it too….next time…..
here’s my outfit for the day!
I think after not wearing my full make up to work daily, has made me look so weird….
And to end this post, here’s a cheers from me and Hui Shan!
Here’s my feedback to the event!
1. Too little cafes for everyone to go around and buy stuff.
2. There were many people around and the price was only cheaper by $1
3. Should have a special VIP area, for those who bought it early
4. Not enough coolers to cool down the event area, as it was really burning hot!)
5. More freebies for those who signed for VIP, to make it more enticing for the customers!
As this is the very first event, I won’t say that it was real bad. Instead, I find that there were more points that they could revise and bring them in too!!
For those who have yet to go down to Cafe Fest, do try to go there as early as possible, coz the seats will get taken real fast, and for certain cafe stalls, their food get sold out real fast (such as the Spicy Chicken sliders from Maison Ikkoku)
I won’t be going down tomorrow as I’m off to clear my driving lessons, and of coz stay home to nurse my flu!
For those who are interested to go for Cafe Fest, tomorrow will be their last day, and also, I saw an update from the organizers of Cafe Fest!!
Please do take note of the following if you’re going tomorrow!!

Hi everyone, we’re sorry for the late reply. We were taking in all your feedback and we wanted to see how we could make things better. We recognise the oversight with our communications regarding who can and cannot buy F&B on our website as we were too caught up with the preparations that we didn’t clarify this point with you. That’s our mistake and we would like to apologise to all of you.
We’re also sorry to hear that many of you didn’t enjoy the festival experience as we had hoped. We understand your frustrations with the passes and justifying the cost.
Taking your feedback in for tomorrow’s festival, we will make the following changes:
– VIP express queues at certain cafés for VIP pass holders
– To create more value for our pass holders, we’ve decided to increase the prices for non-pass holders. That value will be at least $2 to $3 more than pass holders
– Tighter management of access to VIP tentage
As some of you have attended Saturday’s session and might not come for Sunday’s, we are working out some form of compensation for you. Please drop us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your name and NRIC, which and how many passes by Sunday, September 13. We will consolidate and inform you about the compensation details.
We conceptualised this festival with the best of intentions, and we’re extremely disappointed we fell short of your expectations. We know this may not put all of you at ease, but we do apologise and will continue to do our best to address all your concerns.
