I guess many would know about Raan Jay Fai, over multiple reviews ever since her place was awarded with the Michelin Star in Bangkok’s Michelin Guide, and also the feature in Netflix’s “Street Food” Episode 1.
Prior my trip to Bangkok, I have been wanting to visit, and I made a reservation (which I will talk about it at the end of my post if you don’t want to spend hours waiting) just to have an early dinner.
I will jump straight to the food since there are loads of review about how long you got to queue and so on.
Since it was an early dinner, me and bestie decided to order a few dishes because we were heading somewhere else for dinner. So, we ordered the Kai-Jeaw Poo (Crab Omelette), Tom-Yum Goong, Guay-tiew Phad-Kee-Mao Talay (Drunken Noodles), and 2 glasses of ice chrysanthemum tea. It was definitely very filling for the both of us.
The highly raved crab omelette! Definitely recommending this as it was filled loads of crab meat! You can pair it along with the chili sauce provided!
The drunken noodles which was my favorite from the Raan Jay Fai! It was packed with flavor, and the seafood was very succulent! Looks oily, but you don’t feel that it’s oily when you eat it! A must order from Raan Jay Fai!
The smell of Tom-yum Goong from the next table made me order this despite bestie telling me that the amount of food we ordered was more than enough. However, how can I ever miss out on Tom-yum Goong soup when I’m in Bangkok? Taste nice at first, but the more you drink, the sour it gets. Don’t worry, it’s just that the lime/lemon was alot.
Well, if not for the hot weather, I might go back and try other food. We were very tired out from the hot sweltering in Bangkok. We had to walk a distance even alighting from the tuk-tuk because of the preparation of the King’s coronation ceremony.
Anyway here’s another picture of what we had!
And… another picture of ‘Jay Fai’ cooking in action!
I definitely recommend the three items above if it is your first time at Raan Jay Fai!
And… like I also mentioned earlier, do make a reservation before going! Here’s the email address if you’re interested!
