As most of my readers/instagram followers would know that I actually went for a 4D3N in Bangkok trip during the Golden Week in Japan, and the itinerary for this trip was disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances. So, me and bestie decided not to follow any of the itinerary I made, but except to go to certain places like Raan Jay Fai and Forest Bake for sure.
Our flight from SG was scheduled at 4pm, and we went pretty early to explore Jewel. The flight outbound for Bangkok was slightly delayed due to the heavy downpour. Kudos to the pilot, we arrived in Bangkok in less than 2 hours!
In flight meal on board SQ.
We had a pickup transfer to the hotel P2 Boutique Hotel, and the trip from the airport to the hotel was pretty long due to a bad traffic jam. The driver was awesome in turning to small roads to make sure we reach the hotel as soon as possible.
After checking into the hotel, we went to Big C Supermarket to get stuff since we don’t feel that hungry yet.
Queues at Big C were horrendously long even around 9pm, and there were so many people that I kind of want to ram everyone with the trolley I had with me. I bought quite alot of food related stuff such as instant noodles (MAMA noodles), crackers, potato chips, sauces and etc.
We also went to the nearby convenience store to lug a 10 litre bottle of water back to our hotel besides the 7 bottles of coconut water.
We head off to Pratunam Morning Market in search of the noodle store that I had a few years back with my mum. But I think I took the wrong route, and ended up settling breakfast at this Hong Kong food shop. I ordered the spicy noodles and bestie ordered a bowl of porridge.
After that, we shopped at Platinum Fashion Mall instead because of the sweltering heat wave. Walked a few rounds, and got myself a new pair of shoes, some Korean-ish accessories, and clothes. Bestie was interested in the Corgi butt tee-shirt, but the adult size was sold out everywhere. After that, we went for an early lunch at the food court.
Bestie got herself a creamy Tom Yum seafood noodles, and I got myself a sticky mango rice and a bowl of Tom Yum fishball noodle soup, which was super spicy!
After the early lunch, we continued to walk for quite sometime before heading to Central World. We even took a 30 min nap at Central World because we were deadbeat from the heat wave.
We took a tuk tuk to Raan Jay Fai at round 3pm, and we had to walk over to the shop because the roads nearby were closed in preparation for the King’s coronation. So we walked for nearly 10 mins before reaching the place.
You can see my about my experience at Raan Jay Fai here.
After the early dinner, we went to the night market nearby the hotel, and visited most of the stalls before calling it a day.
We woke up later than expected, and head off to Forest Bake for breakfast! The drive from the hotel to Forest Bake took about 20 mins or so.
You can read up my post about Forest Bake here!
After that, we took grab to Siam Square, and the train to Terminal 21 Bangkok to chill until it was time to head to Hua Mum Night Market, which was the highlight for that day!
At Siam Square One, we tried this “Mister Lobster”, which was similar to Luke’s Lobster. Taste wise, it is pretty okay, but it can get really messy when you eat it.
Not very cheap (630 THB) either I think, but the bread is filled with loads of lobster meat! We ordered the “Lobster Roll Jumbo Size”, but we asked to have it cut into half to share.
While eating, we saw groups of people wearing costume (not cosplay). Apparently, there was a Kpop dance event going on. Here are a few highlights of the event itself, which we did not watch in the end.
Hua Mum Night Market is a night market where most locals go to, and I was glad that we went there.
Hua Mum Night Market at 6p.m. Do come around 7:30p.m., as more shops will be opened by then.
There was this restaurant which was famous for their waiters dressing up as females. And they do dance very well. I didn’t went in to eat, but I took a video from the side. Here’s a sample video taken by others as I have yet to edit the video on my side…
Beef Thai Boat Noodles
Thai Crispy Pancake
Cheese Grilled Scallops
We walked quite a few rounds before calling it a day. The taxi ride was a little expensive because of the tolls. So please prepare some money to get back to your hotel.
After reaching Pratunam area, we decided to do a last minute Big C shopping before going back to the hotel.
Our last day in Bangkok! It was really a slack day for us, because we have nowhere to go.
We headed off to Pratunam Morning Market for breakfast, and I managed to find the shop I went to last time!
It’s located right inside of Pratunam Market. Their noodles are of course delicious, and really affordable. The down thing is that, this is an outdoor eating place, so it can get really hot eating there.
I ordered the Pork Tom Yum Noodles, coz it was my favorite! And this is only for 55THB! It’s really affordable!
After eating, we went to Platinum Fashion Mall instead to chill, and do some last minute shopping.
While waiting for the transport, one the passengers delayed the whole ride without any apologies. Thankfully, we managed to reach the Airport early.
That’s about it for my 4D3N trip in Bangkok. It was a short trip, but yet a tiring trip. I guess the terrible heatwave made me really exhausted. But still, I had my share of fun with bestie, and I look forward to bestie coming to Japan in September!
