One year has passed, and I’m back in Japan again, and this time, it is Kyushu!!! I had some reasons for choosing reasons (which I won’t be revealing), and this time, I decided to take ANA instead of SQ coz of their timing and also the flight transfer! Before my flight, my lovely friends from EOY gave me a birthday surprise!!! I was so happy that I almost cried out!!! I actually rushed down to the airport after work as I was supposed to meet them at around 6.45p.m., and the celebration was held at Swensens! I didn’t even know that they had a cake prepared, and to think that I was worried for Ophelia who went to the toilet for quite a long time.
This came out from the “toilet” LOL!!!! Just joking!!! It’s actually an ice cream cake from Swensens!!!
Special ICE CREAM CAKE specially given by Swensens as my birthday fell on the day when I’m flying off to Japan~~~
Was a little sad that I had to part with them coz they are special to me, and I really had fun hanging with them.
After that, because ‘someone’ told me that my gate was closing, I had to rush into immigration with my heavy backpack (coz smarty me check in one luggage, and carried on big backpack to Japan), quickly buy my Singapore souvenirs (coz I had no time to get them), and by the time I reach to the gate, there was no one inside, and I thought I was late, and I didn’t had the time to go to the loo.
But when I settled down to pack my things, I saw people strolling in, and I was went o_O. So I had to bear for like more than 30 mins before I could board the plane and use the toilet. Well, as usual, I booked the window seat, and sitting beside me was this ikemen who is super funny! Let me tell you why. He could switch on the video, put on his eye mask and sleep!! I can never do that!!!!! I was tired but I continued watching, and I had a hard time trying to sleep on the flight.
Tried listening to this too!! Was so happy that I know some of the songs inside!!
Had porridge for brekkie coz I wanted something “Japanese” while the ikemen beside me had a western meal. Yummy but not so filling.
Reached Haneda airport around 6am, and headed to the toilet to change from my jeans to shorts coz it is SUMMER!!!! I can never wear shorts onboard a flight. Don’t ask me why. Except for the flights from KL back to SG, I wore shorts onboard the flight. Then rushed off to take the monorail to the domestic airport!
And I had udon for my quick brekkie even though I had a super early one onboard my flight.
It really feels so good to hear Japanese all the time!!! xD
For those who do take transits, you can actually deposit your luggage with the air line that you’re taking transit to (e.g. from Haneda to Sapporo/Osaka/Fukuoka), and then head over to domestic airport without your luggage!!! Good right?! I seriously like it!! Not sure if other airlines does it, but ANA does it.
While waiting for my flight to Fukuoka, saw so many ikemen in suits lah!! Hahahaha~ Coz mostly is going for business trip~ Then I’m the only one in super casual outfit with a cap!! Felt so pai seh!!!! Board the flight to Fukuoka, and I felt so DEAD even though the seat beside me is empty. Was having a bad headache from the flight. Probably is due to the posture when I fell asleep on the flight. The chairs onboard ANA flights are definitely not meant for me, coz I was not able to recline until the angle I wanted, but SQ Airlines does.
Anyway, back to topic. Reached Fukuoka around 10, and I really lugged my luggage UP the horrible stairs. It was freaking horrible to LUG up one luggage the stairs. Even though it wasn’t that heavy, but with a backpack on, it does make a difference!! Found my hotel, and this time, I chose Green Hotel Annex. You can book hotels from agoda.com, and earn points! Previously I stayed at Green Hotel 2, and I didn’t felt happy, coz it was too run down (sorry, I’m actually quite anal when it comes to choosing hotel, coz I need to have the feel when I choose the hotel I want), and it was alittle wee bit far from the station (coz when you buy alot of stuff, you will want to find a hotel that is nearby where you can just throw everything inside the hotel, and then go out shop again. The woes of a shopper). But Green Hotel Annex was really good!! The staff were awesome too!!! Dropped my luggage with them and then I was off to Dazaifu!
The train to Dazaifu.
Actually, you can take the express train to Dazaifu, and it is much faster!! To get to Dazaifu, you can take a train from Tenjin station. If you’re coming from Hakata, you will have to take the subway to Tenjin, and change to the JR line.
My favorite place!! DAZAIFU!!! Loads of yummy food, but coz it was summer, there were loads of ice. Didn’t get to eat them, coz when it comes to eating ice cream, I take a long time to eat them. Apparently, my teeth aren’t ice-friendly.
Bridge to Dazaifu!
As usual, I will go in and pray and then….get some omikuji!! I totally love them, but then you can only get one per day. If not it does not work. But greedy me, went to take 3!!! Hahaha!!!
If you touch this statue, you will get ‘healed’ at the places you touch. E.g. if you touch the head, you will become smarter. If you touch the stomach, your stomach will get better. Well, that was what I heard. Not sure if it is true or not.
After visiting Dazaifu, I went back to the hotel to do my check-in. I had to wait for the express train, coz blur me missed the previous train, and I just saw around the station sweating profusely.
Got back around 3 plus, change my top, and then went to Hakata area to shop!!! I regretted shopping on the first day coz I had forgotten that I need to travel around for the next few days (which means I have to change hotels almost everyday). But thankfully the staff at Green Hotel Annex allowed me to put my stuff in the hotel until I check back in again.
Went around JR HAKATA City and Amu Plaza to shop as they were side by side, and well, managed to buy a “few” clothings, and I was happy with my buys!!! Then, I realise that I bought too much!!! Had dinner really early as I was tired from the flight transfer and the lack of sleep during the flight. Also managed to skype with bestie, and showed her my buys of the day!! Went to bed as early as 10pm (which is SGT 9pm) as I had to catch an early train to Kumamoto to the next morning!!
Hope you all had enjoyed this post entry about my 2013 Summer Trip to Kyushu!!
Will be updating more happenings for Day 2 in Kyushu!!! Enjoy!!!!
