My last day in Fukuoka because I have to go back on the day after due to insufficient leave.
Well, me and ** were tired from the ride back to his place, and we only reached around 2a.m. in the morning.
We woke up pretty late the next day, as we decided to take it slowly. Well, as usual, I woke up earlier than him because I’m an early bird, and I’m used to waking up early even though I don’t have to work.
Had an awesome breakfast with thanks to his Grandmother, and had a small chat with her until ** wakes up.
The beans on the top left are sugared beans that are boiled with sugar!!! It’s really sweet! And the tofu there you see is not your normal tofu!!! It has this “bouncy” taste to it!!
After that, we head off to Daiso to do my mum’s shopping (she always asks me to get those white sponges for her since it is much cheaper in Japan, and she thinks that I can stuff like about 15 or more to give more “protection” to my luggage), and then off to the local mall to buy my books and whatever I need.
As usual, I spent a long time at tutuanna, coz I love their socks!! And, it’s really affordable!!
So, if you in Japan, do remember to check out tutuanna for cute socks!!
Some sentai show going on~
Then we went to the supermarket~~
Raw whale meat. I can never bring myself to eat that >.<
Raw whale meat for sashimi!!! >.<
After that, we started comparing the prices of food and necessities in the supermarket between Singapore and Japan, and here are the conclusions:
-Meat, veggies and fish are so much cheaper in Japan
-Tissues are more expensive in Japan than in Singapore.
After that, we head back to his place after we did our shopping, and his grandmother had prepared lunch!
That plate of sashimi there is Fugu (aka Blow fish or puffer fish)!! It is safe to eat that in Japan as long they have a professional to take out the poison.
And the lunch was awesome!! I love his grandmother’s food just as how I like my grandmother’s (maternal side) food!!
After lunch, he rested while I wore a yukata to get ready for the night event!!!
Yes!! I looked that FAT back then, but now I think I look so much slimmer as compared to previously!!!
Much thanks to his grandmother for helping me with the Yukata, and there is alot of things to learn on how to wear a yukata properly!
Not sure if I want to wear one this year, although I would love to. And this yukata was given by his grandmother, and yukata is not that cheap if you don’t know. Especially not from those rakuten shops.
My big FAT BUM! XD
We set off earlier to avoid crowd and much thanks to his mum for sending us to the nearest station.
The event was held at Kanmonseki (the bridge between Kyushu and Honshu), but we dropped off at somewhere to walk around first before heading over, and ** brought me to this place, which was Animate located in Kokura. And when we were there, I could remember “Sousei no Aquarion” opening theme was playing~
AKB48 costumes on display too!
After that, we head off to Kanmonseki to visit the festival and see fireworks!
The bridge connecting to Honshu~
While walking, we decided to get this!
Fried blowfish (puffer fish), and it tastes nice!!!
And we have mango shaved ice too!
And shaved ice too!! Plus, you can put as much syrups as much you can!!
Much thanks to ** for helping me to finish the leftovers, coz I can’t eat much.
Wanted to eat the sea urchin steamed bun but it was SOLD OUT!!! o_O;
Caricature of Arashi!!!
Then we decided to stop at somewhere for dinner before seeing the fireworks.
And we had the famous……
Baked curry rice (Yaki Kare) in Kokura!!
Do try this out when you’re in Kokura!!! One of the must try foods in Kokura (Northern Kyushu)
We had it at this restaurant, and they even had a bakery beside it!!
And we found a good spot to watch fireworks for a while because we had to rush back to his place to get my luggage and then off to Fukuoka to stay for one night.
Nice right? I spammed my iPhone with all the firework pictures until it went out of battery.
Then we took the train back to place, and did some last minute packing before heading to Fukuoka to stay for the night because my flight was on the next morning, and it would require alot of time to travel direct from his place to the airport.
After reaching Fukuoka, we checked into Khaosan Fukuoka, a hostel (recommended by **), and we got a room for 2 (bunk bed).
For those who are looking for cheap accomodation in Fukuoka, can try Khaosan. Although I stayed there for a night, it was pretty good. But I’m not a hostel person, so not much comments from me.
** went for for late ramen while I charged my phone and dried my hair before heading to bed. Then when ** came back, we started talking a while before sleeping, and when I went to bed, ** was watching a game review, and it kind of disturbed me, so I told him to sleep earlier.
I woke up earlier than him the next day, because I have alot to pack and I need time to get ready. Well, I managed to catch a glimpse of his sleeping face which I cannot forget, coz it was so funny!!
Well, that’s the end of my Fukuoka trip. Made it as short as possible!! Hope you all had liked it. Will be continuing with my winter travelogues by next week as I’m bogged down with office work.
Will also try to make more references on where to go in Fukuoka, coz I realised Fukuoka is not a commonly go place. Do visit Fukuoka if you’re Japan!!
